Precious Memories made that will last a lifetime
(Cead Mile go raibh maith agat)
A Hundred Thousand Thank yous to each and every one in Scotland and Ireland who helped in any way to make this momentous occasion happen. Most of all, to all the singers from both choirs who put a lot of trust and belief in committees to organise such an occasion. Even persuasion skills for those who felt they might be sea sick, and now glad they made the journey across the Irish Sea. …Awesome, Until the next Adventure, Watch this space.
Ode to Our Scottish Trip 3rd-4th June 2023
Places we’ve been, People we’ve seen,
Voices Routed in sound, singing up from the Ground,
Smiles on each face, Adelaide Hall what a find,
A welcome so warm it eclipsed The Sunshine.
All singing as one the rafters we lifted,
Shown how to, by those 3 mighty gifted,
Each Group performed, Antrim and Glasgow did collide,
In Rapturous chorus On the Banks of The Clyde.
All singing as one what a wonderful Occasion,
Shona, Emilie and Una overwhelming, Thank you, Just So Amazing.
Our tea breaks so needed, dinner so delicious, well done,
We socialized and partied until there was no Sun,
Our events all captured on camera and screen,
Davy’s disco talents didn’t go unseen.
Hellos ‘and Cheerio’s seemed to happen so fast All I can say Sound Routes singers, and Antrim Community Choir
My – What a cast.
Back in the Ibis soft candles and glow,
A perfect end to the day, ‘Braw’Glasgow.
Next morn on the road again, smiles covered any lack of sleep pain,
Excitement was rife; Rabbie- Burns was in sight,
Una surveyed the historic scene,
Says she “we’ll do our performance at the cottage wall green,
We all gathered heads held high standing tall Oh my what a scene?
Una concurring with all, the last line of the Song,
We gathered standing two lines strong,
One, Two, Three, hearts and voices rise to a swell,
Emotions were high It was easy to tell, “Aye”
But we did-nee cry!
Red Rose in Tune, Poetry that made us all swoon,
In the warm scented air, sure” Rabbie” was there.
We fulfilled what we seid, yes we all know Rabbie – Burns is deid,
With his words and his songs living long in all hearts,
We headed for the ferry from Bonny Scotland to depart.
