Antrim Community Choir exists to bring together the voices of our community to share the joy of music, gaining the physical and mental wellbeing which singing with a group of like-minded people develops, having fun as a group with this non-audition choir.

Singing together, we celebrate our diversity and find our common ground, while offering dignity and respect to all. Every voice is welcome. The Community Choir is not limited to those from Antrim but encompasses all of Northern Ireland and has members of all abilities and ages travelling from Ballyclare, Ballymena, Broughshane, Belfast, Crumlin, Dundrum, Newtownabbey, Randalstown, Toomebridge and Magherafelt.

A little Background

A few of us, 7 in total came together November 2011 wanting to sing for enjoyment and fun, with like-minded people as ourselves and as our membership increased we quickly became a constituted group on 8th February 2012.

Continuing to increase in members, we advertised throughout these 6 counties for a musical director, not just any musical director – this person had to fulfil our wish list a few of the words on the advertisement, newly formed, all-inclusive, all ability choir requires musical director, must be inspirational, motivational, aspirational with musical passion and vision that will help fulfil all of our dreams to sing all over this world and most of all have fun in the doing.

There is a saying “never give up, seek and you will find”– our advert was answered by quite a few people, most hadn’t really read what we wanted, all very nice people and some interviewed. Una McCann was like a breath of fresh air and blew them all out of the water and thankfully she accepted the position of MD of ACC. We could have added, “must have loads of patience” but we thought we would let her find that out for herself!

Seriously though with Una at the helm ACC are going from strength to strength. Also successfully gaining charity status with the new Northern Ireland Charity Commission on 16th February 2015.
